Snipping Tool
Has anyone wished they could take a screen shot of something really cool but you either don't know about the PRNT SCRN button or you hate Microsoft Paint. Well, for those who don't have Windows 7 you're out of luck.
For those who do have Windows 7 there is a tool that Microsoft added called Snipping Tool (see picture). This allows you to take a snap shot of windows without having to use Paint to crop or highlight or point out features. Here is an example of what it can do:
Notice that this is not square, it is free form. You can do a boring old square but that doesn't make a fun blog entry.
Just thought this was cool and thought I would share.

Cool new feature in IE
Don't know if I have showed anyone in the family this but the new version of IE (Internet explorer) has these things called accelerators. Basically it allows you to view something without having to go to the website directly. For example, I took a CPU on TigerDirect and used the Newegg Accelerator to find how much the item was on Newegg. This particular CPU is the same on both websites however, TigerDirect does not offer free shipping. That's one thing accelerators wont show but you can get the idea of where these things can go. At least I hope so. If not I can post more stuff about this.
Another thing with accelerators is that you can highlight a news article, and click post to blog with blogger (this website) or even Microsoft's blog site through MSN/Bing/Hotmail. I'm going to continue to play around with these while in class. Teacher is trying to teach us about how important technology is and is somehow fascinated that you can hook up a notebook to a projector.

When in the storm of life, look not to where you have been, but where you must go
I just thought this up, but maybe someone has said it before? Can anyone let me know if someone has so that I can credit them appropriately?
Thanks

The Count of Monte Cristo
Tonight started what will most likely be the longest read I have ever done; the fully unabridged version of "The Count of Monte Cristo," all 1462 pages of small print. My goal is to have this book finished by the time I graduate....but who knows, maybe I'll get into that groove and be able to finish by the end of the year.

Testing out Windows 7 RC
Hi All,
Well, I downloaded the new Windows 7 RC edition and so far so good. I only put it on my laptop for now as I really only use it for internet and class stuff. Hopefully I will find some cool stuff to do with it and share with you all what I find.

School Classes for Fall 2009

Summer School
Well, the list of classes for summer school came out, and surprise, no upper division classes for my major. So, it looks like another semester is definitely going to be added to what seems as already too long college attendance.
On a bright note, I am now considered a graduating senior so I have some seniority over other people. But that also means that payments are due earlier...oh joy.

Super Bowl XLIII
I watched the Super Bowl today, and I have to say, this was the best Super Bowl I have ever watched. Especially the fourth quarter rally by Arizona and then the Steelers rally in the last 2 minutes to win the Super Bowl. By far, the best two teams made it to the Super Bowl and both deserve a standing ovation for their dedication not only throughout the season but also during this game. It wasn't over until the last 15 seconds when the Steelers got the ball back stopping Arizona from coming back again at the end of the game.
Arizona may have lost, but they showed the everyone that the game is never over until the final hike, that statistics don't mean everything, that anyone can make it, and most importantly, the past doesn't mean squat when you work hard to change the future.
So I say to everyone who played and who was involved in this game, bravo, bravo.

School's Starting
Well, the Spring semester is upon me (starting Monday) . And I have 2 of the 4 classes I need. I will need to crash 2 classes and hope that I get in. Otherwise I might have to add another semester to my school year. If I can get in those classes and the 4 remaining in Fall, I will have my bachelors. I even spent $75 to register me for ceremony and diploma fees. Of which I only wanted to pay for the diploma but they wouldn't let me. Anyways, as soon as that paperwork goes through I will be considered a graduating senior which will give me the ability to register classes first for next semester. It also gives me priority on wait lists for teachers.
Wish me luck, I really want to get finished with this degree.
Update:
Due to school budget cuts and the immense number of students needing the exact same classes I am taking to graduate this semester, I was only able to take two classes this semester. Which means I now fall under a part-time student. Hopefully I will be able to take some summer classes to catch up and I still am striving to graduate Fall 2009.

Las Vegas Trip
Well, I know it's almost 2 weeks since I went to Vegas, but hey, I was hoping I could get some pictures. But after looking at the pictures I think I wont post them :P
Anyways, it was OK for the most part. The CES shows really didn't have much there besides Creative's Zii, A new 3-D TV that doesn't require the glasses (will still hurt your eyes though), and SanDisk's new format for their memory cards that is said to allow 2TB (yes, 2,000GB, or 2,000,000MB, or 2,000,000,000KB) into one SD card. I think they called it SD XC. The biggest and most interesting display was Microsoft's Cloud section. If you don't know Cloud is Microsoft's tag name for all entertainment into one. It is the central location (figurative nothing physical) that puts the TV, mobile, PC, Digital Entertainment, and gaming together. The Windows 7 display was my favorite in fact I put Windows 7 on my laptop and so far I am loving it. Runs faster than Vista and already I have less compatibility problems with it (And it's only a beta version).
The best part of the trip was the night I spent in The Mirage hotel. I have never ever slept so well. The bed was AWESOME! In fact I didn't wake up until 11am the next morning. Then again I wasn't in bed until 5am but hey.
I spent some time with co-workers and found out they enjoy gambling, even when the odds are against them. I did gamble a little bit, I put $60 in a video poker machine and left the hotel (Hotel Wynn) with $260. So all in all not a bad night.
It was fun, could have been a lot funner but hey, better than playing WoW on the weekend right?

Internet Explorer 8: Accelerators
Internet Explorer 8: Faster and easier: "Now you can simply select some text and then click on the blue Accelerators icon"
I'm using the Accelerator now to post this blog, it's quite useful actually especially when you see something cool online and want to post it directly to your blog. There is no copy paste, just highlight, right click, post to blog. It's convenient.
